The Smart Entrepreneur’s Lab Podcast: Shareable EP 06 – Re-invention and freelancing with Candice Barnes
Hey Smart-Es! Nice to see you back for more entrepreneurial insight goodness!
Today’s guest is a genius of re-invention! Her name is Candice Barnes and I met Candice while working on Fred Mafrica’s TV show, The Couch. I had a chat with Fred back in episode 4 of Shareable so feel free to check that out at your leisure.
Candice has had a very interesting life story so far.
Starting out wanting to become a documentary film-maker, for various reasons Candice quickly found out that this wasn’t a realistic goal. Soon, Candice found herself deep in TV news and journalism but eventually realized to truly be in control of her future, she would need to make the jump to working for herself.
Candice then moved to voice-over work, copyrighting, radio producing and now, most recently, a successful marriage celebrant.
This episode was a conversation in the very sense of the word! The typical interview format you might be used to in Shareable is thrown out the window as we talk about communication between different generations, how you are always your brand and why it’s always important to put your best foot forward, being wary of people in your network depending on what industry you’re in, reinventing yourself and so much more.
This conversation was great fun and such a storm of information for any type of freelancer or anyone looking to go it alone in the world of business.
A couple of small disclaimers;
– this interview was actually conducted back at the end of last year, but as far as I know, all the details are up to date. But make sure you drop Candice a line via her website or social media – all the links and details will be in the show notes.
– I referred to Candice’s look as channeling Gossip Girls’ Clair Waldorf, when in fact I meant to say Blair Waldorf (I have to make these corrections otherwise I’ll get nasty emails)
So now, without further ado, please enjoy our killer conversation with Candice Barnes.
